Abstract:Underwater sensor networks play an important role in the exploitation of marine resources. Therefore, the routing protocol of underwater sensor networks becomes the research focus. Because of the special work condition, there are additional requirements on the routing of underwater sensor networks. Designing such a routing protocol to meet the reliability and delay guarantee of critical events while preserving the energy efficiency is a challenging task. In this paper, existing routing protocols of underwater sensor networks are investigated and analyzed, and all protocols are classified into different groups according to their characteristics and functionalities. © 2013 WIT Press.
