Abstract:Optimal placement of accelerographs in a high-rise building is the best way to know the real structural performance during earthquakes. The initial installing positions are obtained using QR decomposing the modal matrix, and then the optimal analysis for distributing accelerographs is done by adopting off-diagonal elements of the MAC matrix as the objective function. The numerical example results indicate that the proposed method is reliable and effective.
