Abstract:The estimation of ground motion input is one of the main problems in structural dynamic response analysis. To solve this problem, this paper puts forward one improved estimating method for different engineering structures by taking the structural feature period as the typical parameter based on theoretical analysis, practical experience, and then design earthquake could be estimated by main affecting potential seismic areas according to seismic hazard analysis and attenuation relation. The suggested process could embody structural typical dynamic characters in case of suffering different seismic excitations, which will be very helpful to examine structural safety during earthquakes. The same structure might face different design earthquakes under different seismic environments, and also different structures might have different design earthquakes although with the same seismic environment. So the design earthquakes should be chosen reasonably by taking into account both of structural characters and seismic environment.
