Abstract: In China, philosophical research on technology should focus on dealing with practical problems such as exploring how to construct harmonious relationships between technology and science, technology and society, as well as technology and human development during a period of great economic and social transformation. The construction needs to be based on China's social and cultural contexts. Efforts also need to be made to help engineers, technologists, and the public understand and undertake corresponding social responsibilities in order to facilitate the sustainable development of society. ? 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
