Abstract:As a renewable energy utilization system, the seawater source heat pump system (SWHP) is attracting more and more attention in China. However, the examination of the existing systems should be done before its large-scale application in China. In this study, a SWHP system in Liaodong Peninsula of China was measured. The winter measurement results showed that the average heating COP of a heat pump unit and the whole system were 2.43 and 1.86 respectively during the measurement period while the corresponding COP were 2.99 and 2.30 respectively during the whole heating season. The summer measurement results showed that the average cooling COP of the system was 3.35 during the measurement period. It is found that the optimization of the location of seawater intake point and the sound cycling of the seawater in pool are vital for improving the efficiency of the SWHP system. It is economical and feasible to supply more heat during the partial load period and less heat during the peak load period taking the advantage of the building thermal inertia.
