Abstract:This paper presents a study on thermal diffusion of large-scale seawater source heat pump system. The two-dimensional plane numerical simulation research of the flow velocity field and temperature field of the water space where thermal effluent is discharged was done using a case study. Four major tidal constituents (M2, S2, K1, and O1) were considered and nested grid configurations were implemented in the simulation. Compared calculation results of velocity and direction with measured data, they show fairly good agreement. Based on these studies numerical prediction for the influence of temperature changes in the intake (outfall) areas was made. The results show that the temperature elevation of the influence area is far less than the standard of Grade I of Quality Standard for State Oceanic Water and the negative impact on the marine ecosystem can be negligible. The method can be used for water source heat pump project in other natural water bodies.
