An open structure shape optimization method for parametric mechanical components design

  • Abstract:A general structure design optimization system can be constructed with geometric modeling -tool, analysis tool and design optimization tool. Each part of them need to be well cooperated with the others to realize the generality, robustness and applicability of structure design optimization system. In this paper, a general three dimensional structure shape design optimization method is proposed. To be as an open structure shape design optimization system, CAD and CAE tools, which are working for structural geometric modeling, finite element analysis, optimizing, are integrated "seamlessly" within a powerful and easy-to-use three dimensional parametric solid modeling CAD platform. Different from conventional structure shape design optimization; the system is easy to be utilized by engineers during the prototype design process of most of regular mechanical components. Linear elastic structural responses problem are considered for the present. A numerical example of mechanical components shape design optimization is illustrated to present the effective and robust of the system.
