Abstract:Active contour based on the Level Set Method (LSM) has been widely used in image segmentation. Although some algorithms based on LSM had been proposed to solve the problem caused by data missing in image segmentation, they offer a lot of opportunities to make improvements and modifications. In this paper, an improved algorithm is proposed by calculating the difference between the normal vectors when defining the speed function. With the improved method, the results are no longer dependent on the initialization of the level set and the number of gaps. In addition, a smooth boundary curve can be obtained by the new algorithm. The approvals can be obtained from the experimental results.
