Abstract:Gas hydrate is recognized by the global energy industry as an alternative energy source to oil and natural gas in the 21st century. In the research on natural gas hydrate (NGH) exploitation and utilization, heat and mass transfer characteristics of NGH is particularly important. In this study, a pore network model was used to study effects of this model characters on permeability of methane hydrate (MH) contained in porous media, and effects of the porosity of porous media on capillary pressure. An X-ray computed tomography (CT) was utilized to observe real structures of MH which were formed in different particle sizes under the same condition. The simulation results indicate that the increase of coordination number leads to the increase of relative permeability of methane and the decrease of the residual methane saturation. With the increase of the shape factor, residual methane saturation reduces. With the increase of throat radius, the relative permeability of water phase increases, and the relative permeability of gas phase reduces. Finally, the result demonstrates that with increase of porosity of MH, capillary pressure reduces.
