Abstract:Methane hydrate is a potential natural gas source in the future. Methane hydrate mainly existed in permafrost and marine continental slopes. Methane hydrate formed in porous media like glass beads, clay and silica sand et al in the previous experiments. While, methane hydrate deposits in South China Sea was muddy fine silt. The non-pressurized methane hydrate sediments from South China Sea was used to form hydrate samples in the study. And the methane hydrate saturation ranged from 23%-32%. It was found that depressurization step by step was better than directly depressurization lower than methane hydrate equilibrium pressure. The methane hydrate saturation increase will lead to methane hydrate dissociation more unstable. (C) 2019 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
