Abstract: Hydrogen is particularly important as a clean fuel of the future.Efficient storage of hydrogen has consequently attracted much more attention.Herein,we introduce that the water-soluble and bio-inspired Ir complexes 1,2,and 3 are efficient catalysts for hydrogen storage by catalyzing the interconversion of H_2/CO_2 and HCOOH(Fig.1).~(1-4)The extraordinary activity of these complexes are attributed to the-OH moieties on the ligand which serve as pendent bases and strong electron donors after deprotonation under basic conditions.
