Abstract: (Chemical Equation Presented) Ring of truth: The palladium-catalyzed reaction of allyltributylstannane with naphthalene or phenanthrene derivatives bearing an allyl chloride group proceeds smoothly to provide de-aromatized products with unique structures (see scheme). These products are very stable and can be used as intermediates to give fused-ring systems. © 2008 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
