Abstract:The energy consumed on the transportation pipeline of seawater source heat pump district heating system (SSHPDHS) is much larger than that of Chinese traditional boiler house district heating system (TBHDHS) for the same district heating area. This makes the control of the district heating scale a highlighted problem. This paper mainly studies on the proper scale of the district heating system from the perspective of confining the primary energy consumption ratio of transportation to heat supplied (PECRTHS) within a certain limit under the design condition. The calculations show that if the index of PECRTHS is set from 5% to 20% the maximum district radius of SSHPDHS with supply and return hot water temperature difference of 10 degrees C should be from 0.875km to 6.5km, and the maximum district radius of TBHDHS with supply and return hot water temperature difference of 25 degrees C should be from 3.7km to 17.75km comparatively. It is also found that the circulation pump in TBHDHS has little effect on the system's overall efficiency (average of 0.6%), whereas the circulation pump in SSHPDHS has relatively greater effect on the system's COP value (average of 4.6%) after simulation calculation for the assumed heating, loads from 1000KW to 5000KW, and when the energy consumption of the seawater pump is considered at the same time, the system's COP value of SSHPDHS will be approximately 11.0% lower.
