Abstract:Acoustic resonance (AR) is an important factor leading to blade fatigue for centrifugal compressor. But the investigation is limit in this area. There is also not effective experimental testing to verify it. In this paper, LMS Virtual. Lab Acoustics simulation software is used to determine the acoustic modes for compressor cavity. As well, experiment is carried on to verify the correctness about AR. The acoustic modal frequency and modes of pressure distribution can be obtained. The pressure pulsation level will increase typically when the blade passing frequency is close to the acoustic modal frequency for the reason of acoustic resonance according to experiment analysis. It can provide clear demonstration for blade vibration with fluid induced oscillation. This research reveals the failure mechanism for blade as for acoustic resonance. It can contribute to blade condition monitoring and the prohibition failure of centrifugal compressor.
