Abstract:This paper studied the magnesia flue gas desulfurization technology. It also carried out single-factor desulfurization and sulfite oxidation experiments by exploring the activity of magnesia after calcination and slaking process of magnesia slurry. The results show that residence time and slaking time had a negligible effect on the activity of magnesia in 7 days after calcination. In the experimental range, SO2 removal efficiency decreased by increasing the gas flow and inlet SO2 concentration. The SO2 removal efficiency increased with the increase in liquid-gas ratio, absorption temperature, concentration of magnesia slurry, and residence time of magnesia slurry. Magnesium sulfate with a certain concentration added to the magnesia solution has no effect on the desulfurization and oxidation of sulfite. (C) 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
