Abstract: To cope with the deterioration of the atmospheric environment and to examine flue gas desulfurization for recyclable resources, a flue gas desulfurization technology using scrap iron was developed, which achieved better desulfurization performance in a small-scale experimental study. In addition, economically valuable by-products can be produced from the proposed flue gas desulfurization. Based on the small-scale experimental study, a horizontal cross-flow packed absorbing device is designed. Its desulfurization performance was optimized by scaling-up the empirical data. This paper provides a basis for designing a pilot plant for flue gas desulfurization by scrap iron. ? 2011 IEEE.
