Abstract:The load measurement of marine propulsion shafting system is an essential part to check the actual bearing load of the bearing within the allowed range of theoretical calculation or not by using effective testing method during shafting installation and inspection process. The measurement and calculation methods of the bearing load, the fulcrum position and the load distribution ratio have been discussed in this paper by using the bearing jacking measurement and the strain gauge alignment results. Based on these, the development foundation, module design and programming methods of marine propulsion shafting load system are introduced. With measurement and calculation for a real ship, it is shown that the system has a good feasibility and economic efficiency for loading test of the marine propulsion shafting system. ? 2013: The Royal Institution of Naval Architects.
