Abstract:Taigu Bridge is a cable-stayed pedestrian bridge in China. This paper describes the design of the Taigu Bridge and evaluates the bridge's vibration serviceability. The tower, the girder, the hangers, the crossbeams, and the deck of the Taigu Bridge are described in detail. The girder and deck are two separate elements. Taigu Bridge is an iconic structure in Taigu town because of its aesthetic features. Footbridges are often designed as slender structures that tend to be susceptible to human-induced vibrations. This paper evaluates the vibration serviceability of the bridge. The vertical vibration and transverse vibration of the Taigu Bridge are evaluated. The criteria for lateral lock-in are checked. It is demonstrated that the Taigu Bridge meets the selected vibration serviceability limits.
