Abstract:Adaptive spectra-based Pushover analysis (ASPA) method was simplified by using completely decoupled method. An improved adaptive spectra-based Pushover analysis (IASPA) method which applied to engineering practice was presented. The pier was analyzed under four kinds of classical seismic effect and its result was compared with result calculated by traditional Pushover analysis method and nonlinear time history method respectively. Authors investigated three piers in different heights by the IASPA and nonlinear RHA. The influences of higher modes on seismic performance of the piers in different heights were studied. The results indicate that the influence of higher mode on seismic performance of bridge becomes greatly with increase of pier height. The IASPA method provides an effective estimate to seismic performance of higher piers because it considers the effects of higher modes.
