Abstract:In view of the present situation that the design of recreational vehicle lacks standard or regulation basis, a base vehicle model is selected first according to market positioning, and its body styling and structural design are conducted. Then simulations are performed on roof structure under both central and offset crushing conditions with GB 26134-2010 and FMVSS 216a as references. Multi-objective optimizations on skeleton layout and panel thicknesses are performed with their free-mode frequencies and stiffness verified. The results show that the method adopted not only has certain guiding significance for retrofit design, but can also achieve the optimization of load-bearing roof structure of recreational vehicle, with rather high engineering practicality. © 2016, Society of Automotive Engineers of China.
