Abstract: Two ruthenium aqua complexes were shown to be effective catalysts in chemical and photochemical oxidation of hydrocarbons. A remarkable activity (up to 90% yield and 100% selectivity) was performed in conversion of sulfide to sulfoxide by homogeneous photooxidation.
