Abstract:This study focuses on the nonlinear transformation of irregular waves over a submerged sill experimentally. Three random waves based on JONSWAP spectra are considered, with varying wave heights and peak frequencies. The nonlinear transformation of the waves is investigated using the wavelet bispectrum, and the nonlinear interaction information can be reflected clearly in the wavelet bispectrum. In addition, it is found that the bispectral results can be parametrized using the local Ursell number. Thus, several empirical-equations relating between the bispectral results and the Ursell number are fitted with the least square method.
