Abstract:Based on the kinematic and dynamic simulation software LifeMOD(BRG Corp.), the human knee joint model including femur, tibia, fibula, patella, and four main ligaments was established to simulate the human normal gait in level walking dynamically. Both forward and. inverse dynamic simulation are carried out in the paper. In the forward dynamic simulation, by giving the walking track of some key points, the muscle forces are obtained. Next, in the inverse dynamic simulation, driven by muscle forces, the contact force between the tibiofemoral joint and the knee-ligaments tensile force in normal gait is gotten. The maximum contact force is about 3.0 BW (Body Weight). The maximum ligament tensile force is about 590 N, which happened on the MCL. Our results are consistent with the literature. Some related problems are discussed in the paper such as the influence of the deficiency of some ligaments on the knee joint contact forces.
