Abstract:A new method based on the fictitious crack model to calculate K-R-curves of the concrete beam reinforced with CFRP is proposed in this paper. In this method, the resistance varied with crack propagation can be divided into three parts: the crack initial toughness that is the inherent toughness of the concrete material, the contribution from the cohesive force along the fictitious crack zone during the complete processes of fracture, and the crack resistance providing by CFRP. Considering the contribution of CFRP as a closing force, the analytic solution of the K-R-curves of the reinforced concrete was computed according to the P-CMOD curves measured from tests. Afterwards, the method was used to calculate the K-R-curves of the concrete beams reinforced with CFRP with heights of 200mm and the initial relative crack lengths of 0.2. 0.3. 0.4 respectively. The results indicated that the fracture process zone length also increased from zero to the maximum, and then decreases, which showed the same behaviors as that of the plain concrete.
