Abstract:This paper presents some experimental results of timber-concrete connection made with steel tube considering push-out test, to represent the shear behaviour at the interface between concrete and timber in timber-concrete composite floor. The ductile behaviour is observed and the final failure occurs after a large deformation of the tube and timber that surrounds tube. The concrete is subjected to crushing under the connector and the crack appears on the surface. The experimental results show a significant dispersion of rigidity but lower dispersion of resistance. These results are used to evaluate a three-dimensional (3D) non-linear finite element model, which incorporates the material and geometric nonlinearity, and contact. The comparison with experimental results shows the good qualities of the numerical model. It can be used to predict the ultimate load, identify the location of the initial cracking and simulate the failure mode in timber member.
