Abstract: In the present study, a supersonic nonequilibrium steam flow with spontaneous condensation was studied numerically using a conservation-type two-dimensional compressible numerical model for a converging-diverging nozzle. The research explored the effect of steam pressure at the onset of nucleation and the intensity of condensation shock in the converging-diverging nozzle; however, the main focus was on the pressure characteristics of a nonequilibrium phase change. This study used simulation to show the influence of changes in the inlet pressure on the thermodynamic processes of spontaneous homogenous nucleation and the condensation shock in a supersonic steam flow. Additional research covered the impact of pressure changes on the thermodynamic properties such as the supersaturation ratio and nucleation rate.
