Abstract: A meso-scale numerical model is presented as a method to simulate the dynamic behaviours of high-strength concrete. A damage constitutive law is used to describe the evolution of damage under dynamic load. The dynamic analysis of concrete blocks is performed and the results are discussed. A critical strain rate is observed and the inertia of high-strength concrete plays a major role in the nature of the ensuing tensile-compressive stress-strain curves and tensile-compressive strength under high strain rates.
