Abstract:A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code was developed to simulate the conjugate heat transfer between fluid convection and solid conduction in the regenerative cooling structure. The heat transfer coefficient forward temperature back (hFTB) method was used to exchange boundary conditions at the solid-fluid interface. Validation of the code was carried out by comparing the numerical results with benchmark solutions for the conjugate heat transfer of backward-facing step flow, and experimental data from tests on convective heat transfer of RP-3 flowing in an electrically heated tube under supercritical pressures. The code showed good accuracy and stability. Conjugate heat transfer analysis on a single channel of the regenerative cooling structure was performed to study the effect of channel aspect ratio on the heat transfer behavior using the developed code. Distributions of temperature field, wall heat flux and secondary flow field were analyzed in detail. © 2017, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. All rights reserved.
