Abstract:One of the important technologies of Controlled Fault Interruption (CFI) is rapid real-time fault current parameters identification. An algorithm was proposed based on Recursive Least Square (RLS). Based on the analysis of fault current, a new current model was found to make the nonlinear fault current function to be a linear one using weighted differential equations of the fault current; then an appropriate step was defined to get an optimal weighted coefficient; at last the linear equations was solved using RLS. The simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm has fast convergence speed to identify the fault current parameters in 15 ms, no inherent bias, and the zero crossing prediction error range was in 0.2 ms when the Signal Noise Rate (SNR) was more than 30 dB. The proposed algorithm can meet the requirement for engineering applications. ? 2014 by Binary Information Press
