Abstract:The technical difficulties in three-phase controlled fault interruption (CFI) include rapid fault inception detection, accurate fault parameters estimation, and zero-crossing prediction. Regarding these issues, we propose an algorithm by the complete response theory, in which fault current equations with index component are deduced into its linear approximation, and get solved by using the least square method. Then the fault initial time can be detected by the F0 hypothesis testing, and other faults including phase and type are determined. According to these results, CFI strategies are proposed. Moreover, we write the algorithm into MATLAB programs, and conduct simulation and verification by using the current fault data from PSCAD simulation and fault records, respectively. Results show that the proposed CFI algorithm can determine the type of fault in 3 ms with the error of predicted zero-crossing point less than 0.5 ms, which meets the requirements of CFI in three-phase systems.
