Abstract:In order to solve the performance limitations of traditional ship-type FPSO, this paper presents a new concept of oil and gas development platform, which is named as sandglass-type FPSO. The developments of the sandglass-type FPSO are mainly discussed in this paper, which contain hydrodynamic behavior in waves (such as wave-free heave motion characteristic, etc.), mooring and dynamic positioning system (interactive effect of surge and pitch motions, etc.), stability performance, general arrangement and structural style (optimum structural design, etc.), and so on.
