Research on thermal and pressure cycle influence of flexible pipes

摘要:In the application of flexible pipes, changes of temperature and internal pressure of inner fluid were mainly induced by fluid transportation and valve operations. Temperature change may cause the change of inner pressure of the pipe, these two factors may lead to change of the pipe characteristics. Characteristics of polymer material are very sensitive to temperature change, drastic temperature change may also lead to the failure of the pipe as the inner pressure sheath and end fittings consist of polymer material. In this paper, one method of experiment and one assessment on testing the mechanical characteristics of the pipe were proposed. Experimental and numerical simulations were carried out to verify the pipe characteristics as a function of both temperature and internal pressure. The performance of the flexible pipe under specific circumstances was obtained by comparisons of the experimental and numerical simulations.
