Abstract:Scientifically and reasonably determining the replacement period of rupture discs is an urgent need for the designer ,manufacturer and user of rupture discs .T hree failure modes w ere concluded ,including premature failure ,delay failure and opening shape failure .T he bursting disc w orking life w as defined as the time span from the time of installation to the time w hen the pre‐mature failure of the bursting disc occurred .Four factors affecting the w orking life of bursting discs w ere discussed including fatigue ,creep at high temperature ,static load at room temperature and corrosion etc .A follow‐up study on the quantification of the influence law of various influen‐ cing factors on the w orking life of different types of rupture discs and the method of determining the safety margin of the replacement period based on the w orking life w ere proposed .
