Abstract:Thermal runaway reaction happens easily in the production of peracetic acid (PAA) through peroxide process, then causes overpressure of the reactor.Using the high-pressure reactor and taking the maximum pressure rise rate as index, the effects of reactant ratio, catalyst dosage and reaction time on the overpressure risk of runway reaction system were studied by orthogonal test. It′s shown that the effects of reactant ratio on the maximum pressure rise rate are obvious, while the effects caused by reaction time are not very significant. And the effects of concentrated sulfuric acid volume fraction and the interaction among three factors are relatively small.Ignoring the factors with little influence, the influencing mechanisms of the reactant ratio and catalyst dosage were further studied by single factor experiments. The results indicate that the decomposition of PAA will dominate the gas generation process if the proportion of the hydrogen peroxide (HP) is low in the runaway reaction stage. As the proportion of HP increases, the decomposition of HP gradually dominates the gas generation process and the runaway reaction intensity increases accordingly. And the overpressure risk decreases as the reaction time increases, due to the reduction of reaction heat which causes thermal runaway.
