摘要:The homogenization theory and the finite element method are combined to calculate the mechanical properties of trabecular and compact bones. For the trabecular bones, six cell models are proposed to simulate the microstructure and compute the macro-equivalent Young's modulus. For the compact bones, the four-level microstructure model is adapted in numerical modeling. The first three levels are simulated with cell models and the macroscopic material properties of compact bone can be computed from the hierarchical microstructures. The effects of the collagen Poisson's ratio, the model describing a single lamella, the lamellae structure, and the mineral content of osteon on material properties are discussed.
