Abstract: This paper primarily investigates the effect of damping ratios on the acoustic response of a multi-stopband local resonance plate consisting of two-dimensional periodic arrays of tuned mass-spring combinations attached to a thin homogeneous plate. A Floquet Bloch approach is employed to demonstrate the stopbands for an infinite plate. In addition, the acoustic radiation behavior and average sound radiation pressure level of finite plates are computed. A continuous and much wider stopband with good vibro-acoustic behavior can be obtained when care is taken in the design of the damping ratios of local resonance plates.
