Abstract:Gas-liquid two-phase flow and mass transfer characteristics of CO2/N2 mixture absorption in a T-junction meandering- microchannel was experimentally investigated. The gas mixture was composed of 5% CO2 and 95% N2. The liquid absorbers were deionized water, 0.5 mol·L-1 aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (0.5 mol·L-1 NaOH) and 0.5 mol·L-1 aqueous diethanolamine solution. The flow pattern of the gas-liquid two-phase flow at inlet and main body was observed by a high-speed camera to determine the flow region of Taylor flow. The bubble length and liquid slug length were obtained using Image-Pro Plus 6.0 software. Meanwhile, the liquid volumetric mass transfer coefficients of the three different absorbers for the Taylor flow absorption of CO2 were systematically determined and compared with the results from literature. The predicted liquid volumetric mass transfer coefficients were calculated with empirical correlations from references and the one proposed in this paper. The empirical correlation proposed in this paper show better agreement with experimental data for physical absorption and rapid chemical absorption with average deviation of 12.4% and 10.5%, respectively.
