Abstract: A mononuclear copper (II) complex with pyridine-carboxylate ligands, Cu(pc)(2)center dot 2H(2)O (PcH = pyridine-2-carboxylic acid), and its initial ligand pyridine-2-amidoxine, have been prepared by a hydrothermal method. The structure of the complex has been characterized by X-ray crystallography. The complex was observed to be active in photo-catalyzing oxidation of Rhodamine B (RhB) and Methyl Orange (MO) in aqueous solution with hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)). (c) 2010 Elsevier B.V.
