Abstract:Combustion noise contributes a major part to diesel engine noise. This
paper focuses on the separation of combustion noise using independent
component analysis method. Firstly, to the complexity of diesel engine
noise, FastICA algorithm is applied to separate the independent
components from the measured acoustic signals. The non-Gaussianality of
diesel engine noise is checked by kurtosis. The separated independent
components such as combustion noise and fuel injection noise are
identified according to the time information. Secondly, to the
nonstationarity of diesel engine noise, this paper focuses on the
extraction of time frequency feature using wavelet scalogram. Wavelet
transformer is applied to analyze the separated independent components,
and their features in joint time-frequency domain are extracted based on
Morlet scalogram.
