Abstract:In order to evaluate the effect of reinforcement measures on the seismic performance enhancement of concrete arch dams under different earthquake intensities, based on the endurance time analysis (ETA) method, the influences of whether the high-arch dam adopted seismic reinforcement measures on the damage and deformation indexes of the dam body under different earthquake intensities were studied. First, the ETA method, dam material constitutive model, transverse joint model and ground motion input method were introduced. Then the numerical models of arch dams with reinforced and non-reinforced seismic measures for high arch dams were established respectively, and the seismic durations of different earthquake strengths were generated based on ETA method. The damage distribution, joint opening and deformation response of high arch dams with reinforced seismic measures under different earthquake intensities were analyzed. The damage and deformation indexes of the high arch dam, such as the damage volume ratio, the average joint opening, and the crown cantilever deformation, were proposed. By comparing the dynamic response indexes of high arch dams with or without reinforcement, the influence of reinforcement measures on the response, damage and deformation index trend, correlation and dispersion of high arch dams was investigated. The calculation results showed that under different ground motion strength conditions, the reinforcement measures were effective to reduce the overall damage of the high arch dam, and had limited impact on the opening of transverse joints and displacement. The reinforcement measures could reduce the dispersion of damage and deformation indexes caused by earthquake randomness. At the same time, the normalized damage and deformation index revealed that the damage and deformation index had a certain correlation. Copyright ©2021 Advanced Engineering Sciences.
