Abstract:In this column, we describe a new design method for a precise finite impulse response (FIR) compensation filter as a component in a delta-sigma modulator (DSM), also referred to as a Δ- ?modulator. Several cost functions are first proposed based on their compensation purpose. Then the steepest descent method is adopted to find out the optimum filter coefficients. By applying this method, it is possible to achieve a relatively flat frequency response magnitude in the passband even if the order of the filter is low. © 2016 IEEE.
