Abstract:Common-Acoustical-Poles/Zeros (CAPZ) approximation is an efficient way to model Head-Related Transfer Functions (HRTF), which requires fewer parameters than pole/zero model. Conventional methods estimate CAPZ model parameters based on least square error criterion, while the attributes of human auditory perception are more consistent with the logarithmic error criterion. This paper therefore presents a new method to estimate CAPZ model parameters by minimizing log-magnitude error. Common acoustical poles are estimated with Haneda method firstly. Then, under logarithmic error criterion, the zeros of CAPZ model are estimated with iterative weighted least-square algorithm. Simulation results are given to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
