Shear strength of reinforced concrete beams without web reinforcement

Abstract: Shear design method for reinforced concrete members without web reinforcement in the Chinese GB 50010 Code was calibrated with an extensive shear database, and modification of the GB equation was suggested based on the statistical analysis. The effect of member size and longitudinal reinforcement were considered in the proposed equation. It is found that the current GB Code equations present a large scatter of results and may be unconservative when applied to members with depth greater than 600 mm, or to members with longitudinal reinforcement ratio less than 1.0%, while the proposed equation fits test data very well. ? 2010 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
