Static performance study on the axially compressed concrete filled circular CFRP-Steel tubes (C-CFRP-CFST) with moderate slenderness ratio

摘要:Based on experimental study, axial loadversus mid-height cross-section deformation curves and the deformed modes of the axially compressed concrete filled circular CFRP-steel tubes (C-CFRP-CFST) with moderate slenderness ratio were simulated by using finite element method, and the calculated results agree well with the experimental results. Analysis based on finite element showed that, the maximum load bearing capacity of the composite column decreases as the slenderness ratio increases, whereas the elastic stiffness of the columns keeps almost constant. Stress of concrete, steel tube and CFRP were analyzed. The interaction force between the steel tube and the concrete decreases gradually from compressive zone to tensile zone. In compressive zone, the interaction force drops a little as distance from the mid-height cross-section increases. The adhesive strength has little effect on the load bearing capacity and on the elastic stiffness of the specimens. Equation for calculating the loading bearing capacity of the composite columns is presented, and the estimated results agree well with the experimental results.
