Abstract:The assembly reactions between a rigid imidazole/carboxylate functionalized ligand, 2-(5, 7-dioxopyrrolo[3, 4-f]benzimidazole-6-yl)benzoic acid (H22-DPBB) and Mg2+(Li+) ions led to the formation of two 2D layered compounds, [Mg(H2-DPBB)2(DMF)2] (1) and [Li(H2-DPBB)(DMF)] (2) (DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide). Single crystal structural analyses show that compound 1 has a 2D (4, 4)-net structure based on 4-connected mononuclear Mg2+ nodes and HDPBB spacers. Compound 2 also has a 2D (4, 4)-net structure but based on dinuclear {Li2} nodes and HDPBB spacers. Interesting hydrogen bond and interactions are observed in the structures. Additionally, the IR spectra and thermal behaviors of 1 and 2 are presented.
