摘要:This work presents an efficient method to synthesize micrometer-sized magnetite with different morphology and size through a solvothermal approach by using ferrocene as a single precursor and isopropanol or an isopropanol water mixture as solvent. Sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS) was selected as additive to modify the crystallization of magnetite. The morphologies of the as-prepared Fe(3)O(4) particles could be tailored by adjusting the content of water and/or SDBS in the synthesis process. Well-defined Fe(3)O(4) crystals with star-shaped hexapods (about 2-5 mu m in length of opposite vertexes), octahedrons (1-2 mu m across), concave octahedrons (2-3 mu m), and octahedral frameworks (2-5 mu m) have been successfully fabricated after 6 h of aging at 350-400 degrees C. A possible growth mechanism was proposed for the formation of these Fe(3)O(4) microstructures. It has been found that these microsized magnetites exhibit different ferromagnetic properties depending on their size and shape. The results demonstrate clearly that isopropanol solvothermal synthesis of magnetite in the presence of water and surfactant is a versatile approach to Fe(3)O(4) crystal morphogenesis.
