摘要: As its relatively large storage capacity and the ability of identifying and tracking materials and equipment in real-time without any direct contact or line-of-sight compared to traditional bar codes, Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology has been more and more adopted in many sectors and identified as one of the ten greatest contributory technologies of 21st century. To systematically shed light on potential applications of RFID for uninitiated readers, this paper first presents the principle and the brief history of RFID technology. Then the paper summarizes the RFID's technical features which enable its popularity in industry. Finally, applications examples in construction industry are presented for highlighting its enabling employment. It is hoped that this paper will give a useful implications for RFID researchers and practitioners and provide a roadmap to guide future research. ? 2013 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.
