Abstract:The safety evaluation of earthquake-damaged arch dam is very important
for the assessment of seismic performance and failure risk after
earthquake. The nonlinear numerical analysis was performed to study the
water pressure overloading performance of arch dam damaged by earthquake
of different intensities. The displacement variation with water pressure
of earthquake-damage arch dam was discussed and the after-earthquake
safety was analyzed by proposed damage area ratio and damage volume
ratio. The results show that: the body configuration and bearing
mechanism make arch dam possess excellent seismic performance,and the
water pressure bearing capacity of damaged arch dam after earthquake can
be guaranteed if the dam can bear the earthquake action. The proposed
accumulative damage area ratio and volume ratio can reflect not only the
evolution of seismic performance of arch dam,but also the water pressure
bearing safety of damaged dam after earthquake and are more suitable as
indexes of arch dam safety performance.
