Spectroscopic study of a long high-electron-density argon plasma column generated at atmospheric pressure

摘要:A stable plasma column is generated in a quartz tube using a pair of hollow electrodes driven by a sinusoidal power supply of 45 kHz at atmospheric pressure in argon. Two distinct operating modes (low-current and high-current modes) are identified through observing its discharge phenomena, measuring its electrical characteristics, and determining the gas temperatures by spectroscopic diagnosis of Q branch of UV OH spectrum. The electron density in the high-current mode is diagnosed by Stark broadening and is found to be two orders higher than that in low-current mode.
