Re-rolling technology and alloying-element distribution of carbon fibers reinforced Al-matrix composite

摘要:A re-rolling method was successfully developed to add more layer of carbon fibers into the composite plate that already contained one layer fibers. The thickness and state of covering-layer were synchronously controlled to achieve a subtle equilibrium between the solidification and deformation behaviors. It could offer sufficient infiltration effects on the upper fibers and protection effects on the lower fibers at the same time. Due to the ideal micro-structure of both layers fibers, the maximum bending stress value of the composite could reach 139.8 MPa, an improvement of 42 % than the corresponding matrix, and 16 % than the composite with one layer fibers. The distribution characteristics of alloying elements were systematically investigated, and the elements with the tendency to aggregating in the last solidification part that proved to be more prone to locate in the fiber region. The mixing enthalpy theory was introduced to explain the distribution of coating elements in the composite.
